It is a long-period comet (with an orbital period in the hundreds of thousands of years) that is believed to have arrived in the inner Solar System from the Oort Cloud for the first time. It was discovered on 22 February 2023 by the ATLAS survey. It came to us along a retrograde orbit with an inclination of nearly 140\u00b0. It passed through perihelion on September 27, 2024, and came closest to Earth on October.
