Sky monitoring

For the monitoring of the sky we use a fish eye camera. We share it together with astronomers observing in the adjacent small dome (8meter dome of the 65cm telescope of the Interplanetary Matter Department) where the camera is installed.

The camera has variable exposure times (from seconds typically to 120s) depending on the darkness of the sky (twilight, full moon etc.)

Fish eye snap of the sky January 7th, 2014, 21:03:13 UTC. Exposure time 89s. Setting Moon is on the right. The 8m dome of the 65cm telescope dominates the picture. The dome of 2m telescope is on the left.

For the comparison: cloudy sky. The dome of the 2m telesope is opened and interior lights are switched on.
