We are glad to invite the community from the research but also from the industry. to participate in the Czech ELT ANDES instrument kick-off workshop. The workshop will be held at the Astronomical Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Ondrejov on 29 September 2026.
RATIONALE:
ANDES will be a state of the art precise spectrograph for the 2nd generation instrumentation for ELT at Cerro Armazones, Chile. This unique project is planned to be operational from 2034. Covered scientific topics will be:
- Exoplanets
- Stellar formation
- Dark matter
- Fundamental gravitational constants
By participating in the ANDES consortium by delivering hardware, the Czech astronomical community will gain access to broad science topics covered by ANDES. Furthermore, Czech astronomers will have access to the guaranteed observing time (GTO). Czech ANDES participation will also enhance our ability to work in large international projects and our future generation of astronomers will gain significant exoperience with leadership for future ESO/ESA project.
PURPOSE:
Czech Republic is aiming at contributing to the UBV and IRZ spectrographs. The purpose of the workshop is to introduce, discuss and precisely define the Czech contribution towards ANDES. This workshop will enable the next step which is formal joining of the ANDES consortium.
We would like to invite industrial partners but also research institutions who might be willing to contribute towards the spectrographs optics, mechanics and software working packages. The workshop is open to everyone but we kindly ask you to fill-in the registration form.
