Welcome to the website of the OCEANS project!

The OCEANS (Overcoming Challenges in the Evolution And Nature of Massive Stars) project investigates a variety of physical aspects that contribute to understanding of the life and death of massive stars that were born either as single objects or with one or more siblings. The project builds on the interdisciplinary competence of the involved experts in mathematics, physics, astrophysics, computer science, fluid dynamics and statistics.

OCEANS establishes a multidisciplinary, international network by uniting researchers in various states of their scientific career from the Czech Republic, Germany, France, Poland, Spain, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico and the United States. Involved institutes are universities, observatories, and research institutes. Funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions programme, the project implementation is carried out mainly during long-term research visits between European and non-European academic institutions. These secondements between involved institutes lead to efficient knowledge transfer and create synergies between theorists, observers, and modelers.

In addition to the secondments, summer schools, training courses, and workshops are organized, increasing the visibility of our research results and equipping early-stage researchers with the necessary skills for their future careers.
