Workshop on Observational Techniques 2024

At the turn of August and September, the traditional Workshop of Observational Techniques 2024 takes place in the Stellar Department of the Astronomical Institute of the CAS at the Ondřejov Observatory, this year it is the fifth edition. Participants are students from four universities: Charles University in Prague, Masaryk University in Brno, University of Potsdam and Leibniz University in Germany.

The main organizers and coordinators of the workshop are the Head of the Stellar Department Brankica Kubátová and Petr Kabáth and Jiří Kubát. Together with colleagues from the University of Potsdam and the TLS – Thuringian State Observatory in Tautenburg, Germany, they teach students how to reduce spectroscopic and photometric observations taken with the Perk telescope in Ondřejov and remote observations with the E152 telescope at La Silla, Chile.

Thus, we use the largest telescope in the country – the Perk Telescope not only for observations within our scientific programs, but also for teaching students. We try to involve students in our science programs and prepare them for future observations with the Perek telescope and also with the E152 telescope at La Silla in Chile.

More information about the workshop can be found here.
