“I was able to make it clear that astronomy was the right field for me to pursue and to study at university in a few years. I now plan to continue working with the Astronomical Institute to write my thesis and hopefully spend another week here next summer,” says student Jan Herzig and continue.
In mid-August, I got the opportunity to visit the Astronomical Institute of the CAS for a week through an internship at its Stellar Department.
This year I am attending the six of the eight-year study at the Gymnasium J. Š. Baar in Domažlice and I have been interested in astronomy for several years. Together with my friend Alex Faivre, who is attending the quint of the grammar school in Uherský Brod, we approached the Astronomical Institute in June to see if there would be time for us at one of its departments sometime in the summer, so that we could get a closer look at how the real work of an astronomer is done. To our great joy, this time was indeed found and we were able to go to Ondrejov in mid-August.
